Commonwealth Scholarships

Commonwealth Scholarships are aimed at students from low and middle-income Commonwealth countries who could not otherwise afford to study in the UK. These scholarships are funded by the UK Department for International Development (DFID).

Eligibility:

Nationality: Applicants must be citizens or permanent residents of a Commonwealth country, including Nigeria.

Academic Qualifications: Applicants should hold an undergraduate degree of at least upper second class (2:1) honors standard.

Financial Need: Applicants must demonstrate financial inability to study in the UK without this scholarship.

Scholarship Value: Covers full tuition fees, airfare to and from the UK, a living allowance, and additional grants to cover essential expenditure.

Applications Open: Typically in September.

Application Process

How to Apply: Applications are made through the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission’s online application system. Applicants must also apply to their chosen UK universities.

Required Documents: Proof of citizenship, academic transcripts, references, and a statement of purpose.
