Chevening Scholarships

Chevening Scholarships are the UK government’s global scholarship program, funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) and partner organizations. They offer future leaders the unique opportunity to study in the UK.

Eligibility

Nationality: Applicants must be citizens of a Chevening-eligible country, including Nigeria.

Academic Qualifications: Applicants should hold an undergraduate degree that enables them to gain entry into a postgraduate program at a UK university.

Work Experience: A minimum of two years (equivalent to 2,800 hours) of work experience is required. This can include full-time employment, part-time employment, voluntary work, or internships.  (CHEVENING.ORG)

Value: Covers full tuition fees, a monthly stipend, travel costs to and from the UK, an arrival allowance, a homeward departure allowance, and the cost of one visa application.

Application Timeline

Applications Open: Typically in August.

Applications Close: For the 2025-2026 academic year, applications closed on 5 November 2024.

Interview Period: February to April.

Results Announcement: June.

Studies Commence: September/October.

Application Process

How to Apply:  Applications are submitted online through the Chevening website. Applicants must also apply separately to their chosen UK universities and secure an unconditional offer from at least one by the specified deadline.

Required Documents: Education documents, references, and one unconditional UK university offer.
